Let’s face it; it’s hard enough to get quality traffic to our blogs, the last thing we want to do is lose the opportunity to create a repeat visitor.
In the blogs I am asked to review, I often surprise the blog owners with questions they seem to feel are irrelevant, at least until I have improve their understanding of what makes blog visitors tick.
Most blog owners figure I am going to take a look at their themes, layouts, seo, plugins used, etc., and from there make recommendations on how they might improve the blog. The fact is I don’t even look at the blog until a dozen or so very important questions are answered.
One of the most important is “How do you respond to commenters, and how long does it take to approve and respond to their comments?”
To my surprise, at least when I was just getting into helping others optimize their blog performance from a revenue perspective, is how many bloggers either;
- approved comments daily and never responded to the commenter directly (I am often told they are too busy to respond to commenters, again, amazing to me); or
- they don’t moderate comments at all – a really big and dangerous no-no;
- approved comments and responded with a canned response like “thank you for your comment, we will get back to you as soon as possible” and then never actually get back to them (how would this make you feel as a commenter?); or
- responded to comments more or less sporadically, when they have the time, or when they happen to drop by the blog. (A really big problem with corporate type blogs where there often seems to be some confusion as to whom is responsible for responding to comments on the blog)
Now, we cannot and will not get into the business of isolating or selecting the right person to look after the corporate blog here, but want I do want to look at is a tool that can do a number of things for your blog comments including;
- let you know when there is a new comment without using email or actually visiting the blog; plus
- allow more professional and immediate responses to posted comments;
This little gizmo is called (take a big breath..) “WordPress Comment Moderation Notifier” by the good folks at “HowToGeek.com”
It consists of two parts that work together;
- a standard WordPress “plugin” that is uploaded to your blog’s /wp-content/plugins directory; and
- a desktop application that sits in your PC or notebook tray area.
The plug portion has no configuration required other than to upload it and “activate” it as you would any WP plugin. The little desktop application is easily configured by telling a few things including:
- the web address of your blog;
- your admin username and password for the blog; and
- how often you would like it to check your blog for new comments.
In other words, it is very easy to set up.
Now, to use it you do…nothing. As long as you have the app running in your tray, it will do all the work. When it checks your blog (this all happens in the background and is invisible other than the little WordPress logo icon in your tray) and finds no nw comments, nothing happens.
But, when it checks your blog and finds that there is a new comment, the little WP logo in the tray changes to a red notification icon, and a little box slides up from the bottom of your screen telling you there is a new comment.
Simply click on the link in the little box, and you are taken directly to the comment to approve, deletes, spam, or otherwise moderate it.
Too easy right?
I am going to do a little video for this shortly but it is incredibly easy to use.
Get the WordPress Comment Moderation Notifier for your blog, and start doing a better job of managing comments, and responding to your commenters.
They will reward you by coming to your site more often, if for no other reason that because you are more responsive to them than your competitors :>)

Corporate gift giving is entirely different from personal gift giving. Personal gift giving may include the needs of the recipient for whom the gift is given. However, this personal touch is entirely missing from the corporate type of giving as, often, it is the image of the corporation that has to be prominently palpable.

I am in the exact same situation: pale skin, freckles, and private school where you can't wear any makeup. Here is what I recommend:
1. Wash your face every evening and morning. I use Noxzema; but I also recommend Neutrogena's Oil-free Moisturizer for sensitive skin. Also exfoliate your skin about every week or so using a scrub and some kind of facial mask.
2. This is what I recommend to do every morning: take a quick hot shower to open your pores (don't wash your hair; just pull it up in a bun) then rub an ice-cube all over your face. I know it sounds crazy but it reduces swelling of the face, closes your pores, and gives your face a radiant glow. Here is a link for Green-tea ice-cubes (you can also just use a regular ice-cube if you want)
3. This is what I recommend to do every evening: Take a shower and wash your hair if needed. After your shower pluck any eyebrow hairs if you think it's time to get rid of some extra eyebrow hair. Here is a link that shows you how to properly pluck your eyebrows:
If you are trying to get rid of dark circles under your eyes then here is what you do:
Make some tea and save the tea-bag. (Don't put in any sugar!)
Drink the tea so you fall asleep better which will help reduce the dark circles.
Take the tea-bag and place it over your dark-circles.
Repeat on the other eye.
4. If you want to wear makeup then just use some concealer to cover any flaws such as broken capillaries or redness. If you love make-up then look up Michelle Phan. She is the best make-up guru on the whole web!
5. Find a hair style that suits you. Hair makes a big difference in your appearance.
Hope I helped!!

Stephen, it’s not quite as ridiculous as you claim. FB already has hundreds of millions of users and a communication system similar to email that most of them use. In fact I’ve heard that there are already people who don’t even use email — the just use FB. It’s not much of a leap to suggest that if they improve their communication system, millions of other users would dump their current email for FB’s messaging system.

Immigration will make an assessment when she arives as to whether they think she intends to abide by her visa restrictions. You can of course give them information if you wish, but it will be up to them to make a decision. If she is returning near the end of her visa validity, I'm sure they will query her plans; they will certainly be looking for a return ticket, and evidence of sufficient funds, etc.
I would just add that your sponsorship letter does not involve you taking any responsibility for her abiding by the restictions on her visa, ther is no comeback for you, unless you were party to a deliberate fraud.

As an atheist and a citizen, I have the right to not have religion be a part of my life. christian supremacists seem a little confused about that though.
EDIT: LCPL Psycho, the constitution does give me the right not to have to deal with religious tyrrany, like blue laws, gay marriage bans that restrict my sister's civil rights, forcing my kids to pledge alleigance to the christian 'god' in public schools, and so on.

Opportunity cost… ha? I personally think career/educational decisions should be more passion/dream driven. I define opportunity cost as the cost of having to regret that you didn't pursue what you had a passion for, just to avoid risks. Going by that definition, I'd suggest you go into any field that you like and see yourself dwelling into. Money can always be made easy through lot of ways. And coming to computer science major… you don't really need to major in it to work in that field. The field had very low entry barriers and you can easily get into a well paying job with just some basic training… As you progress in your career you can ofcourse increase it with experience. Have fun!!
