This post is really about an ex black-hat magician opening his book of tricks for you to take a peek.

The simple line of code I have shown below can be used to edit any web page on any website anywhere in the world -with a catch…

It only edits the page you see, and not the actual website as seen by others visiting that site.

What is the point of this?

Watch the video to see how cheats use this code to falsify documents, income earnings statements, Clickbank transaction pages, PayPal statements, you name it.

You need a current web browser, but other than that it works in both IE and Firefox.

OK, so how do you use it? Visit any web page. When the page has loaded fully, past this into the browser address bar and hit “Enter” key on your keyboard:

javascript:document.body.contentEditable='true'; document.designMode='on'; void 0

Next, select an area of text as you would in MS Word, etc, and start typing, editing, etc.

What the hackers or cheats would then do is click the “Print Screen” button, or on many keyboards the “Prt Scr” button, then open MS Paint, Photoshop, or whatever imaging program you like, create a new image, and hit “CTRL-V” to paste this falsified web page image into the document.

Very scary huh? It is frightening to think what damage people have done with this.

The one I see very frequently is the falsifying of Clickbank income statements, PayPal sales statements, etc.

There is a serious exploit out there right now in the WordPress blog world, and if you have not already, you need to update your WordPress blog to version 2.7 ASAP to protect yourself from it.

This hack is a file that can be put into your /wp-content/themes/ folder which, once installed, can be used to run any number of php commands on your server, including messing with your logins, databases, files, cpanel, etc.

This video shows you how to detect and remove the remv.php hack.

You will know if it is on your WordPress blog in about 1 minute by using this video.

One of the most common symptoms of the presence of the hack is the decreased performance of your website, and slowing of pages, downloads, etc.

I have been asked about this a few times, so I am going to try and clear the air as best I can.

For some time, a number of clever web 2 marketers have been sneaking “External Links” in over at Wikipedia in categories related to their keywords.

Ok. I can sense a few blank faces so I will explain…

Google ranks your site based largely on the authority and quality of the sites that link to you. This means that if WordPress.com links to you, and Google does consider WordPress.com to be an authority site, that value is passed on to your site when Google ranks you, and when they determine your Google Pagerank.

Since Wikipedia is clearly seen by Google as an authority site on literally thousands of subjects, getting a link from wiki to your site would be a good thing, no? Let’s explore this a little more deeply…

Many of the Wikipedia category pages and result pages are ranked by Google as PR 5 or even 6 in some cases. A free PR 5 or PR 6 link to your site certainly wouldn’t hurt would it?

But wait…before you knock yourself out chasing links from Wikipedia you should keep one thing in mind…

Wikipedia uses strictly “nofollow” links.

Now, this does not mean that a link from wiki to your site is not a good thing, it just means that Google does not credit your site with any of the “good stuff” that would normally have been carried to your site if Wikipedia was NOT “nofollow”, that’s all.

IMHO, a link from them must have more value than no link at all, mustn’t it?

Of course that’s not the toughest question, but it is certainly food for thought, isn’t it?

The early mornings as a full-time affiliate marketer are quite a bit different from how they used to be that’s for sure, but there are significant anomalies elsewhere in my day as well.

It used to be that by around 8 a.m. I had already been working for an hour or so fixing, fueling, and starting Sea King helicopters on the flight line in Shearwater Nova Scotia, which is a military installation just the opposite side of the harbor from Halifax.

Now I find myself considering only one thing once the kids are off to school, and my wife Amber is off to college:

“to golf or not to golf”

It is a complex thought process which involves at very least determining if my clubs are in the car, or if they were even unpacked from the last Internet conference trip. Then, I have to call brother Rick (also an Internet marketer :>) and see if he is available for a round. We usually do the driving range first for a bucket or two refining our slices and hooks into the nets, and then assault 9 or 18 perfectly innocent greens from there.

If the weather is not fair, and you golfers in the readership know the weather has to be REALLY not fair to not play, I take my wireless laptop and do a little reading at the local Tim Horton’s coffee shop which coincidentally serves 2 purposes;

1. I get to catch up on what is new in the IM world. Doing this for just 30 minutes each day puts you in the top 5% of web marketers for knowledge (Brian Tracy)
2. I get to greet all the guys I once worked with, many of whom told me I was nuts to even dream of working online. Needless to say, I get a great degree of rather selfish satisfaction fro this. Sad, I know..

This takes me to around mid-morning, which is another story- one about developing real estate with those affiliate marketing dollars- in another post, sorry #;>)
